Can a SINGLE Behavior elevate YOUR Organization?

Do you believe a single behavior can elevate an entire organization?  Lisa Earle McLeod explored that question in the article “The One-Minute Change That Will Transform Your Company”.

This article showed how a simple act has transformed the thinking of an entire university. Motivating? Yes, definitely.  But can a simple act consistently performed by all members of the organization impact the bottom line ($$$)?  Again.  Yes, definitely.

What can you, as a business owner, do to motivate your team?  Here are five key recommendations to put into action now:

  1. Read the article and then determine YOUR One-Minute Change for your organization.  Choose one change that reflects the philosophy of your organization.  Remember, EVERYONE in your organization should be able to perform the action in less than 1 minute, every time an opportunity presents itself.
  2. Review your company policy. The beginning of the year is a great time to see if what you have in writing truly represents the real philosophy of your company.
  3. If necessary, rewrite, revise or establish your company policy. If you work for someone else, create your own policy on how you will treat the customer, client, and co-worker. Drill down to the individual choice.
  4. Start with you!  Doing the right thing comes from the top down.
  5. Educate and train your staff.

Competition is everywhere.  People want to do business with someone who makes them feel special.  Customers have a choice on where they spend their dollars – let it be with you.
